slackware and realtek

cant seem to figure out how to get my realtek ethernet card to work on my acer aspire laptop with slackware 14.

lspci shows it (Ethernet controller; Realtek Semiconducter Co Device 81e9 (rev 10)
but there doesnt seem to be an associated module loaded in the kernel?
lsmod doesnt appear to show anything related to realtek or 81e9.

ive tried hunting for an 81e9 driver/module and it seems to be a ghost.
theres not even anything related to an 81e9 on realteks site.

anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance

Can't remember the precise details now but when I got my Lenovo thinkpad laptop a couple of years ago I had to download Realtek drivers (from the Realtek website I think) to get the wifi to work.
Code:
lsmod | grep rtl
shows the following modules are loaded now:
Quote:
rtl8192ce
rtlwifi
rtl8192c_common
mac80211
cfg80211

could it be a display error with the "e" in it? could it be a 8139?
