simple port forwarding

I am running a PPTP VPN server on IP , but I want my users to connect to my VPN server using another box with IP
both IPs are valid and they are on different datacenters.
so I think I should do a port forwarding for port 1723 from my proxy box to my VPN server. this is what I did using iptables on my proxy box :
Table: nat
target prot opt source destination
DNAT tcp -- tcp dpt:1723 to:

target prot opt source destination
SNAT tcp -- tcp dpt:1723 to:

but it doesnt work ! when I try to connect to port 1723 on my proxy box , I dont get an answer.
please help me.

I solved it , I had forgotten to enable IP Forwarding on my proxy box , now clients can connect to VPN server through proxy box , but they get error 628. seems it is somehow related to GRE and how PPTP works. microsoft SUCKS
