Should I run samba server from xinetd or standalone?

The samba howto states that the samba daemons can be run standalone from the bootscripts or from inetd. I am using this box for IP Masq to an internal network. I want samba to be available only to the internal network and not the outside internet. I already accomplished this with telnet, so I know how to do it using xinetd. Should I used xinetd to run samba also? Are there any advantages/disadvanteges either way? Can you even limit samba to the internal network when running it standalone without going through xinetd?
