I am wanting to share a directory between uBuntu and XP. The uBuntu folder will contain files transcoded from MythTV, ie mpeg files ranginng from 1GB to higher. What should I format the partition that the directory will be on. I want to be able to write to that folder from XP.
When sharing via samba or over the network it is the server that writes to the filesystem not the client so it doesn't matter. The files are on the linux PC and therefore should be a linux filesystem.

Bugger, for some reason I got it into my head that this was on a single dual-boot box. Dunno why?
So yeah, use a Linux fs on the Linux box and ntfs/vfat on the Windows box. Neither needs to know anything about the other fs as it's the samba server that handles the communication.
