sharing printer with linux & windows

Hi all,

I have several computers networked together. I have a HP 640C printer on one of my linux boxes and I was wondering if it's possible to print things from a Windows machine on the same network?
Is this a Samba thing?

Thanks

Jon

Yep it's a Samba thing. You'll need to set up a simple Samba server and determine how you want your network to 'see' it. That process will depend on whether you're on an NT or 9x (peer-peer) network and how the LM announce messages are handled. Once you've got that figured out you need to set up the printer as a share.
