sharing network connection

Can i make my linux box work as a switch?
I've got two computers that need to connect to a router but i 've got only 1 utp cable (and it's not that easy to put a second one in).
First computer is a Mandrake 10.0 CE - 2.6.7kernel (overall usage)
Second computer is a Suse 9.1 - 2.6.4kernel (servers,...)
I did manage to share the connection by running a dhcd server and iptables but i would like to make a direct connection to the router so both computers get there ip (dhcp) from router without buying a switch.
Is this possible of not.

THX
