Share Internet from Windows XP box??

I have 2 laptops, 1 uses Windows XP, the other one uses Mandrake 10.1.
I want to share Dial Up internet from Windows XP (Internet Connection Sharing) to the Linux box.

How do I config those 2 machine with a crossover cable and 2 NIC? Please tell me in detail as I am new with Linux (especially Linux command )

I have no hub/switch/router and no ADSL , only Dial Up.

Thanks in advance.

dialup modem and NIC on your XP machine. NIC on your Linux machine. Set up Internet Connection Sharing on the Windows machine. Set your Linux machine to get an IP via DHCP (enable dhcpd at boot). Be sure the Windows machine is on when you try to connect. Good luck.

Question share my winxp pro w/ my linux box?

will this also work for me but I have a desktop pc running win xp pro w/ 2 nic cards?

and the other my linux box running mepis linux w/ 1 nic card.

In between I have a small mini hub made by netgear. Six ports on it . From left to right looking at the front goes like 1, 2,3,4,5,and 6 being the normal/uplink port. I have a total of 3 patch cables.

My dsl service is sbc yahoo dsl and is coming into a dsl modem made by speedstream. No combo dsl/router, just the dsl modem rj11 going in and 1 rj45 going out to avail nic card.

So Is this workable or no? Or just get a router and spend some money that I dont have at the moment?

Thanks for listening

Kevin

Works the same way. If you have the hub and the cables are straight, then you'll have to plug one cable into a regular port on the hub and the other straight cable into the uplink port. This will simulate a crossover cable and you should be able to do the same thing.
