Are both operating systems on the one PC and you want to copy data between the partitions? If so, both Linux and Winxp support fat32 so you can mount a fat32 partition under Linux and read/write directly to it.
Are the operating systems on different PCs? If so, have you had a look at Samba?
Hi gilead,

HI prozac,
let's start from the begining. I want to share data between two machine the first one has opensuse linux 10.1 and the other machine has winXP, what I have to do ?

Samba can do a lot of things - if I guess at what you want it to do, the chances are high it wouldn't be right. Also, rather than typing out the info from the Samba howto, I'd suggest having a read through the info at http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/man/...TO-Collection/, trying it out and then posting any problems you have to get it running.

you can read http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/man/...TO-Collection/ and install and configure samba. If you have iptables configured, you may want to look at your rules and allow port 137:139. I have seen many people getting in trouble because of their iptables rules. The samba configuration to share any directory is pretty simple so take it simple and then if you still have problems getting it work you can tell us what you tried and didn't work. we would be glad to help you out.
Hi gilead,
Hi prozac,
I have went through the manual you have provided. My problem is
I have two machine the first one has linux opensuse 10.1 and the other has winxp connected both by lan. I mounted the shared files from the first machine by using samba
my computer in desktop then network folder then SMB shares then workgroup, I found my share file in read only mode, when I tried to write in it says
'access denied to smb://pc01/shared file
Could someone tells how to write on these shared files ?
... thanx
