setup samba as Windows Domain Member
Hi.
I know how to setup linux (using samba) as member of a Windows Domain Controller. To do that I need to setup Linux user for every Windows domain user. Is that anyway that I can avoid doing that? How can I avoid creating Linux account and just using Windows account on Linux share? Thank you. |
To my knowledge thats not possible.

not possible, but since you can make it as domain controler you can add users from windoze

In fact, it's possible. I just found a way to do it this morning after two days of struggling. I'm using samba + pam_smb + winbind. I set the permission (allow my domain user to view) on the share using samba. I use swat as well as /var/log/messages to observe the user login name. I also check passwd and group to make sure there is no matching linux user name. It works.
