Setup PPPOE Server on Linux m/c and let the client connect over a cross cable.

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a test environment where I would like to setup a PPPOE server on Redhat 9.0 and my windows client should be able to connect over a cross cable.

As obvious, I do not want to use any DSL modems in my setup. When I google for the same, all the links mention DSL modem setup.

Could anybody please help me with this.

Thanks
Deepti

What I think your really wanting to know is how to setup a samba server.
Was samba selected when you installed Redhat?

For samba information see www.samba.org.

No, I'm actually looking for PPPOE (Point to point over Ethernet)server configuration on Linux m/c which should allow a pppoe client to connect and authenticate over a cross cable.

Roaring Pengiun includes a pppoe server
http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pengui...e_rp-pppoe.php

Check to see if it is already installed i.e. pppoe-server
