Setup Internal DNS Server
Hello.
I currently have to linux boxes that provide DNS resolution to my workstations (WinXP) for web surfing etc.... I am in the process of building several intranet applications that will run on separate servers. I am looking for assistance or a point in the right direction in how to add local private IP addresses to our DNS so my Intranet can refer to the app servers by name rather than IP address.
We use the 10.20.0.0 address space
We use a NAT firewall .
Linux Caching DNS servers are inside LAN at 10.20.10.1 and 10.20.10.2
My Inrantet server is at 10.20.9.1 and my app servers will be be ...9.2, ..9.3 etc...
The Intranet is not accessible outside the network. At some later point in time we may choose to make it visible via SSL etc... and then I would just add th enames to my domains DNS entries.
So, do I just modify the DNS in my Linux boxes, or should I register some domain and place private IP address A records for each server.
