First make SURE you have samba installed (try some smb* command, like "smbd" or "smbclient", sorry I'm not at home, I can't tell you how to get the "version"). If you don't you probably already know how to get it (apt-get install samba* or something like this).
Once you have it, take a look at samba documentation ( some samples at
http://us4.samba.org/samba/docs/man )
Samba is easy to use install, if you follow instruction... Instructions and docs shipped with source are better, maybe you should think about using source).
The first step is to configure smb.conf, everything depend on it.
