I am trying to setup FTP server: heres what i got:
1. rpm -qa|grep ftp
lftp-2.6.3-3
vsftpd-1.1.3-8
ftp-0.17-17
gftp-2.0.14-2
This tells me that it is installed.
Next i do a ps -ef |grep for vsftpd
Results: nadda
I went to system settings -> server settings->services
vsftpd is checked along with xinetd (required) I can not start it as the button is grayed out although during boot up it says it is OK
so now I went to /etc dir here are copies of the relevant files

I just can't get FTP to run.. Please help me !!!!!!!

I forgot this part if i just run the deamon by itself i get the following error:
500 OOPS: could not bind listening socket
I'm on RH9 btw
