Unhappy setting up sympatico

i'm having trouble setting up sympatico high speed on my redhat 7.3. i tried using the xDSL to set up a new connection but i cant activate it. I am sharing my connection with a windows-only machine using a hub.
i know the connection works because it works when i'm in win98. can linux connect through a hub? i had rogers cable internet working on it before too so it can't be a problem detecting my eth0...i dont think... but with rogers i wasnt sharing the connection.

do i need to download a special PPPoE thing or something similar to get my high speed to work?
