Setting up PCMCIA network card

Hi,

I'm a series Linux newbie (used only SuSE and Redhat) and want to become a hardcore Linux person. I've downloaded and installed Debian 3.0 (quite a trial for me) and have a working KDE setup. I however do not know how to setup my networking card (working on a laptop).

The network card is as following

Linksys EtherFast 10/100 PC Card (PCMCIA) (Model: PCMPC100)

Please can I have some help...I'm not sure if I have GNU C compiler installed. I am running the 2.4 kernel.

Please give me specifics here or email me at techno_chef@swissinfo.org

Thanks
