Question Setting up gateway

I currently have a home network on 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0, with a Linux machine on the network with eth0, having an ISDN connection to the Internet on ippp0. The linux machine is running Ubuntu "Breezy Badger" with an IP address of 192.168.0.1.

I want to be able to forward all traffic from eth0 that is destined for the internet to ippp0, i.e. setup the machine as a gateway for the LAN to the Internet.

How do I do this? This is my routing table (with info masked by x), sorry bout formatting

Destination_____Gateway_____Genmask_________Flags_Iface
x.x.x.3_________*___________255.255.255.255_UH____ippp0
192.168.0.0_____*___________255.255.255.0___U_____eth0
default_________x.x.x.3_____0.0.0.0_________UG____ippp0

Your routing table should be fine. What you need to be looking at is setting up nat/masqerading with iptables.

This can be done with many different iptables/firewall setup proggies.

My favorite

All you have to do is follow the prompts and it will generate a iptables script for you.

Hey, thanks for that link. I actually never got round to sharing my internet connection last time But now I got a new pc and its 64 bit and i cant find drivers for the usb modem, so I'm going to try the script that gets generated so I can use the internet on the 64 bit machine. I have about 12 days left to activate the machine, so it'll give me some motivation
