Setting up Dolphin to use sftp folder...SSH issues?

I am trying to get dolphin to connect to a remote server using sftp protocol with ssh. When I type in the server info into Dolphin for a remote server it does not even seem to try and connect before giving me an error message saying it could not connect to the server and to check my settings. I have connected this way with other apps and had no issue. I think ssh is stopping it for some reason so it cannot even try to connect.

I am really new to ssh and do not know what to do or where to start. I know my system has ssh as well as sshguard...

Any suggestions?

I guess it is "KNetAttach" that technically launches..

I am able to connect to the server using Bluefish which is what I am using as an html editor, and it works well for downloading and uploading just not managing. I also tried the nautilus and it is ok, but I would rather not have to launch a whole nother file manager in order to connect. I really wanted it right in Dolphin but for some reason it will not connect and seems that it is not even attempting...

I also tried typing the server using fish into the editable location bar, at one point I got a request for credentials but now it wont connect at all, it just says loading folder constantly...

Ok so I have been able to connect and use Filezilla as well as FireFTP in Firefox and Nautilus, but everytime I try to use fish for ssh I cant get it to connect. It seems to be getting humg up....e.g. fish://whatever.adress.me, when ever I try to use any other extension it does not work. In Dolphin the sftp brings up an error, fish just gets hung, and http opens a browser...

I got the KNetAttach to try and connect when ever I would switch out the sftp setting for fish, but it never actually connects it just attempts over and over again....

Am I missing some component?

For me this workaround did it:
Basically you need to connect to the remote folder via dolphin first, before connecting via ssh. The KIO messes up, if there is an entry in your ~/.ssh/known_hosts for the host you want to connect to. Try to identify the entries in that file for your remote host and delete them. Or if this is not easily possible, you might need to remove the file and recreate the database of the known hosts.
