Setting Up Blog and Chat Server on Linux with Windows Client

Hello all,

I had checked the other posting about this but I did not want to hijack the thread. My question is, I have CentOS 5 for my server, I want to use Bloxsom and Jabber but I am unsure of how to integrate it so that both will work hand-in-hand and I can get a windows client on it to work.

I do need to have it so that other people who are on windows clients can access it. It will be on static IP addresses, not DHCP.

Jabber should take care of the client connections from say Pidgin or Trillian regardless of operating system, but blosxom is a simple cms... and how you want to integrate them I'm unsure. You would need to provide more details, but I suspect it's going to require a significant amount of custom code on your part.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The goal of this project is to get a chat server and a blog server up and running so that it can be accessed by a Windows Client. The hosting is on the Linux end of it. Can I run both programs on one server or do I need separate servers for that?

Okay so I was just browsing the internet and I noticed that Jabber is not open source. Is there any other server based chat program that I can use that is open source that will work with Windows integration?

Unless something has changed Jabber is open source, particular implementations of the protocols may or may not be.

To answer the question you had about if they can be on the same server, that is largely dependent upon the volume of clients and the specs of the server you're looking at.

Okay so that last post is fine now, I fixed that. I ended up using a different program and I need to be able get the blog pointed correctly in my httpd.conf file but I am not sure how to do it. I don't really know apache and the online help tools are very confusing.
