Setting up apache

I just installed apache on my Gentoo linux pc. Now I know some basics as far where the config files are, where the root for my webserver is(/var/www/htdocs). and know how to stop/start the service, basics of using apachectl and all. Im looking for good documentation for the other basics of apache though. I know how to make a homepage, but how do you have links and all. Anyone have any good links for Apache 2 newbs? Id appreciate them... Everytime I look for documentation, its all about setting up apache with mod_ssl or perl or some other shit i dont know yet. Im just trying to set up my webserver with plain old html for now, when i have a webserver with a nice homepage and working links, ill be happy.

The only documentation I can provide is this link.

http://www.lug.unt.edu/apache/#RUN

It has some good info as far as explaining the config files for apache. As far as your question how do you make links, if you already have a homepage setup it should (index.html by default) all you would have to do is create more .html files in the same folder where your homepage is located. IE add a file (links.html) and create a link to that file.
