Setting up a Linux Server (static ip)

Hello everyone,

I would like your opinions and suggestions on the following. I would like
to setup my computer (running Red Hat Linux 9.0 on a dual Xeon Dell workstation) as a server for people to logon and run programs. I would like
the server to have only secure shell logins and further allow logins based on
I.P.

I have now got a static ip and a hostname for the server. I am yet to get information on primary and secondary DNS, subnet mask and the default gateway. What I was wondering was if someone could point me to a link on the web where I can find a step-by-step procedure for setting up the server with static ip and further configuring it. As always, I would very much appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks in advance for your time and help,

RD.
