Question set perm hw adress by boot

Hi There,

i have a fedora2 box, i get my ip from the isp i did ifconfig eth0 hw ether <new mac> so when i look in ifconfig i see that the mac adr has changed. In /etc/rc.d/rc.local i put the same rule, but when im rebooting, the mac is chaged in de right one, but eth0 wont get up. I have to give him the command ifconfig eth0 up

The second problem is: i give eth1 ip 10.0.0.10 with sub 255.255.255.0 my WS has ip 10.0.0.16 in webmin I set my box to being a router. I can ping my FW i can ping my wan IP adress but i cant ping an other site on the net from my WS. Strange enough is my firewall is working verry good on the net.

can some one help me

thanx

MACADDR and HWADDR are the 2 parameters you can set in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethx

MACADDR sets the mac addr for your NIC
HWADDR check whether the mac address matches the original mac address on your NIC
