server1 connect to server2 (VPN?)

Hi All,

i noob about networking. hope someone in community can teach me or help me or advice me. thanks

here is my concern,

i been googling for whole week but i not understand at all.
i setup server1 at Penang (one of malaysia state) and server2 at Kuala Lumpur (one of malaysia state).

how can i connect server2 to server1?

server1:
gateway/dhcp/vpn server

server2
gateway/dhcp server

if server2 dial vpn to server1, will server2 clients able to connect to server1 local address directly?

will server2 use server1 bandwidth?

can server2 auto dial vpn to server1 everytime it reboot? writing script?

beside this options, is there any way else or any solutions for me to connect server2 to server1?

thanks and hope for quick reply.

hi shio,

did you use a modem/router in front of the server?
and what kind of connection do you have? direct to the internet or just intranet?
if your network directly attach to the internet then yes - you should do VPN.
when doing VPN - you have to make sure which device will terminate the VPN connection.
if you have a "combo" modem (the one with modem, including router software, dhcp, NAT etc) then you can just do the site-to-site VPN from there (your actual gateway). any traffic from your internal LAN destined to remote LAN will automatically routed via that VPN connection.
doing anykind of connection will always "eating" your bandwidth.

HTH.
