server unreachable...
I have a small office LAN - layout is like this
internet <-> freesco router <-> LAN - 1 linux server and 15 win 2000/XP clients
I run a small Intranet on the linux server - php based
I had a power failure yesterday - all machines came up fine - but I can no longer access the web pages from any win xp client - I can ping the ip address or the dns name from any winxp client
I can access the linux box through ssh on my freesco router but cant acces the linux box through ssh on any win xp client.
when i run nmap on my linux server it show all relevant ports open (22,23,80)
when i run nmap from a win xp client it shows all ports filtered.
any ideas?

If you can access SSH via the sco machine but not from the XP machine, it sounds like some sort of IPTABLES firewall issue. Do you use IPTABLES on the linux server? If so you can test whether it is the problem by turning it off then try to ssh from the XP machines.

Sorry my reply is so late. Just got back from vacation. Sounds as if your issue is related to iptables, possibly NAT. If you can post your iptables it might help diagnosis.

Thanks - but I didn't have time to figure it out - I put in a new hardrive, installed slackware 10.1 and called it a day - everything works fine now. I needed to upgrade that server anyway.
thanks everyone for your help
