sendmail problem

In my redhat 9.0 server, before I changed one line
(uncomment 127.0.0.1), it works perfectly - I can send email
to anywhere in the work, now after change sendmail.cf and
recompile and resart, I find sendmail does not wrok anymore
(noone can receive my email), now I change sendmail.cf back as the default, recompile, then restart sendmail, the sendmail process is running,
but it still fail to send email to anywhere else, why?

Pls help me, since we are replying on this only mail server for communication with the outside world.

Thx,
HTM

Error messages or returned email always helps determine the problem?

Make sure your host name is in /etc/mail/local-host-names

strange thing

My host name is OK, since it did work before I made changes;
but when I undo my change, it does not work any more

Where is error/log message for sendmail? Under /var/log/sendmail?
The strange thing is no one gets the sent email, and I cannot
get the bounced email either.

Thx.
HTM
