sendmail (pop3 receive?)

Hey,

I Didn't know where to insert this thread, but network seemed like a good relation for e-mail.

My situation is that I'm totally inexperienced with sendmail.
Now, it's setup where I can load pine as a user or root and send mail out just fine, now I sent a test email from my linux machine to my work, and I received the email with no problems.

When I sent the email back, it seemed like it became lost in cyberspace. No errors came back from my work's emailsystem (which normally happens if it can't find the server, email, etc... of course) but I also didn't receive the email back on my linux machine from which the original message was sent.

I'm under the impression that it's possible my ISP may have the pop3 port blocked off for reasons such as setting up personal email settings, but I don't know how true that could be.

Could anyone point me in a more correct direction?

Thanks

Question Some questions

Could you please go into more detail, because it is hard to find out what actually happened without more information.

I asume, that you have an ISP hosting your domain? So your provider will most likely receive your email, but this doesn't mean, that you automaticly will get it on you machine at home.
You will have to configure something like fetchmail to retrieve your email from your provider or your provider needs to have a properly configured MX Record in his DNS configuration pointing to your machine and your machine has to be on all the time.

I don't know how much you actually know about email and it's transport and I definitely don't want to look patronizing, but I couldn't find out more from your previous post...

...tell me/us more and I/we will be happy to help you out

cheers,
A08
