Sendmail- how to get mail with windows using outlook?

I have sendmail setup, receiving mail, but am not understanding how to get the mail onto my windows machine with outlook. How do I know what to use as my POP3 & SMTP server address? I've tried the ip address and the domain name, but can't connect. Can someone point me in the direction of what I need to do?
Thanks

If you want to view mail you will need to install a pop or IMAP server on your server as well as SMTP - SMTP is just used to sending and receiving mail - not for passing it to clients. The SMTP and IMAP/POP names will need to be the name or ip of your server. Remember that you may need to open ports on your firewall.

if you haven't installed a pop server you can't possibliy retrieve mail, but you should be able to send it. so if your doubt is about connectivity, you can rule it out by trying to send some mail.
you can also try to telnet the smtp port of your sendmail machine (or whatever port sendmail is bound to...) and test connectivity from the windows machine you are trying to send mail.
