hi all, im configuring my mail server and when i try to conect to it using kmail or any MUA i get an authorization error this is my /var/log/mail file pleasse help

i'm not sure what distro u use but in redhat you need to amend a few files...
um....
do a search for the ipop3 file
should be in /etc/xinetd.d/

i don't have a ipop3d file, should i make one? i have an imap file, wich i modified and still get the same error, please help
im using suse 9 and tryng to conect with MS Outlook

Have you tried
$ man ipop3d
? It doesn't sound like it. There is probably a user database that you have to populate before you can authenticate to it. You may also have to specify what type of authentication it's supposed to use.
By the way, it won't necessarily run out of inetd/xinetd. It could be a stand-alone daemon. It *is* started, else you wouldn't get the log line from it so being disabled is not the problem. It is enabled, it's just not configured properly.
