sendmail

can anyone please tell me howto configure sendmail to create the sendmail.dc and the sendmail.cf
from the information that I get, I don't know if I have to edit sendmail.mc from a text editor to create the [ m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc >/etc/sendmail.cf] or just execute this command from a terminal.
do I need to have these two packages [sendmail.doc and sendmail.cf] with sendmail.
I am using mandrake 10.0
I am trying to configure sendmail so I can use it as a mailserver for a group of over 50 people
please tell me if qmail is a better choice.

sincerely, clint

you need to edit the file '/etc/mail/sendmail.mc'

once you have made all of your changes then execute the command

m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc /etc/mail/sendmail.cf

You might have to copy the file to /etc/sendmail.cf if your changes don't work. Sorry I don't remember the exact location.

You then need to restart the sendmail server/service.
in RedHat it is like this

service sendmail restart

sendmail under any *nix is pretty much the same, so it was not a waste. Personally though, I prefer Postfix as it is much easier to configure and run (http://www.postfix.org/)
