seeing tis message dhclient: DHCPREQUEST on usb0 to 169.254.95.118

I am seeing this message on my RH system. I am not booting dhcp and am using fixed ip on eth0 not usb0

I was able to disable it by modifying the
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts//ifcfg-usb0 ONBOOT to NO.
restarted the network services etc.

What I want to know is what is it and why or how would it get activated. I have many RH systems and this is the only one this happened on.

Sep 11 04:16:17 myhost dhclient: DHCPREQUEST on usb0 to 169.254.95.118 port 67 (xid=0x8363046)
Sep 11 04:16:17 myhost dhclient: DHCPACK from 169.254.95.118 (xid=0x8363046)
Sep 11 04:16:17 myhost dhclient: bound to 169.254.95.120 -- renewal in 252 seconds.

I googled this error and it seems to have happened to others. No one seems to document what or why etc.

edit: I found another system with it turned on. So I am sure I have more. Need to know why etc.

IIRC, it's a default address put into dhcp clients. The system has tried to find an ip using dhcp, and failed. So it puts that address on the card. I'm sure there's a sane reason, I just can't think of one.

It means your dhcp negotiation is breaking down.
