Search a proxy


Hi and hello,

I am on the search of a suitable Proxy server for a long time. I tested Squid longer time, but it is not this I after what seeks. I use Debian Woody.

I look following for a Proxy server with it one can do:

- System independent users aim

- Traffic volumes restriction for the user

- Access to different Ports closes

Maybe you can help me. It thanks many!

If I did understand, Squid can do all the things you want to.

I think this is not so.
How can I put in this then, an User can have only 1 GB transfer in the month?
I cannot find any Informationne over a SQL-Auhentification.

Any type of authentication is easy in Squid. All you have to do is write a small program be it perl or python or C etc etc which would perform the auth. Look in squid.conf. Squid will send you the user/pass supplied by the user and you respond with an OK or ERR. You can even do a digest auth. Your custom script can do the SQL auth if you wish. Squid is very extensible.
