SBCYahooDSL connection trouble with Linksys NC100 NIC on Fedora Core 1
I was running RedHat 9 for a couple of months with a Linksys NC100 NIC as my access to the SpeedStream 5100 ADSL modem to my DSL provider. When I upgraded to Fedora Core 1, I am not able to connect to the internet. All my configurations have been done with "Network Device Control" -> Config, etc. RH 9.0 configured on the first try.
I did some research and tried to turn off kudzu as root. This seemed to be the overwhelming way people got around similar issues. The results are that:
a) This solution did not work for me
OR
b) I did not really turn off kudzu (i.e. is there a step by step this is how you do it approach.
Method A used = 1. as root "chkconfig kudzu off"
2. reboot the machine
Method B used = 1. as root "chkconfig --level35 kudzu off"
2. reboot the machine
I did notice another error the last time I rebooted during the shutdown portion: fgrep ifcfg-ppp0 ... /ifup config file not found
or something like that.
I am just not sure what to do now. Is there an upgrade yet that fixes this?
I cannot use up2date as I cannot get on the internet, but I am willing to manually install.
