saving mouted drive for use later with SAMBA


using mandrake 10.1

wondering how can i save my corrent setup for later access without having to keep typing the following command to connect to my desktop with XP on it

$ mount -t smbfs -o username=(username),password=(password) \\pc\share //home/user/Desktop/windowsxp

Well the command i use was along those lines (hope you get the generalll idea) basically i want to save this settings so i dont have to keep mouting the windows drive how do i go about doing that i try putting

/pc/share /home/user/Desktop/windowsXP unmask=0, user, defualt 0 0

in the fstab dont seem to work though... also try using the samba search in the mandrake control centre to look for server but not finding anything ..


any help

In the link that Binarybob provided, by default, the credentials file (/etc/fstabrc) will be world readable, just like the /etc/fstab file. You'll want to be sure to change the permissions on the file so it's only readable by root.

This link provides an alternative way of creating the credentials file that might be a little more secure:
