Satellite, Win98 network, & RH7.3

Here's my situation:

I have a DirecPC Satellite that 'has to be connected to a Win98 machine' (according to DirecPC. I haven't tried it on Linux yet. Has anyone else?). I am running Internet Connection Sharing on the Win98 machine, and am trying to access the connection through my Linux laptop over the network.

And this is working...well, sort of.

I can bring up web pages, but most of them will only load partially before 'stalling.' I've tried different browsers thinking it was a browser issue (caching), but it happens in Mozilla, Netscape, Opera, and Konqueror. Konqueror says 'stalled' in the status bar.

When I take my laptop to another location where I have a network with a Linux box masquerading ppp dialup, I can surf the web with no problems. This is leading me to believe the problem is either with the Win98 share, or the Satellite.

Does anyone have any experience with this or can lead me in ANY direction to solve this problem. I would love to be able to use my laptop with this Satellite connection, as DSL and Cable are not available in my area :( and I would love a faster connection than dialup.

How can I tell if it is the satellite, and if so, can it be fixed? Does anyone have a DirecPC satellite connection being used with a Linux machine?

Thanks,

Obsian

Hmmmm... I've seen these symptoms before in some mailing list archive... Unfortunately I do not recall any fixes/ideas posted with regards to this... My suggestion would be to try and hook up your satellite to your Linux box. At least get Windoze 2000/XP for connection sharing, if possible.

If the satellite connection boils down to an ethernet connection with a DHCP server, then Linux should have no problems connecting to it... You may want to post the question of hooking up your satellite to Linux in the hardware forum... :)
