Sarge -- LAN only works when I reboot
Hi folks,
I just installed Sarge. I have a Lan with static IP's on my boxes and a firewall box with masquerading setup. Static networking on all my boxes works great except for this glitch on my new sarge box.
When I boot my machine, the network doesn't work. I can ping the boxes ip: 192.168.1.21, and that works, but when I try to ping my fw or any other machine on the lan I get nothing. It's not an iptables problem because I flushed and allowed all forward, input & output for testing.
Here's the weird thing: When I reboot the box by doing '/sbin/init 6' as root, on reboot networking works perfectly. I can ping all the machines on my lan and access the internet.
When I shut it off and turn it on again, same thing -- nothing works until I reboot. Why is this?
Here's some info:
/sbin/route:

OK, this is the info when stuff DOES work, but as far as I know, it's the same on initial boot when stuff is not working. Definitely the card is recognized, the driver is loaded, and the routing information is the same.
Why is it doing this?
THANKS MUCH!
