Samba: Windows reports wrong free space

I'm using Samba (2.2.3a-12.3 for Debian) on a Debian Woody (3.0r1) box with a 2.1GB hard drive. However, my Windows 98 box reports that the share has 1.96TB(!) free.

I don't know if this is relevant or not, but df also gives odd results:
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda1 -503479503165 1 0 51% /
df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda1 -503479503165k 1.0k 0.0k 51% /
This isn't a major problem, but I'd like to fix it. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I don't think there are any options that will help. It's either a bug in win98 or the old version of samba you are running.

You may be able to fix it by updating samba or perhaps running windows update.

Samba 2.2.8 and 3.0 has been out for a while. You seem to have the latest version made for debian stable with a backport of the security fix from a few months ago.

I've run Windows Update with no improvement. I'm not too worried about it. The strange figures from df worry me more, and I can't help wondering if they are the root cause of the problem. I'll try posting a question about df on one of the more relevant forums, and once I've got that sorted, I'll look at this again.

Thanks for your time.
