SAMBA / Win98 "..cannot view the list of users.."

Well, the changeover to a SAMBA PDC is going great.

Just a few hiccups. Like:

I have a Win98 box, that when you go to share a folder and Add Users to permissions for that folder you get the dreaded "You cannot view the list of users at this time. Please try again later."

I've replaced the MAPI32.DLL file and verified that it is not being overwritten on re-boot.

I still get the error.

Could an old registry key value left over from a policy affect this?

PS the other Win98 boxes are doing fine.

update

Well, I've figured out the difference, now I just need help backing out of it.

When I set user-level access in network properties the initial message was that the SAMBA server could not be found: "go ahead and save it anyway?". I said yes. Well, I should have said no and re-booted, logged into the SAMBA server and then set the Win98 boxes to User-level access. Then you don't get that message and setting file-folder sharing works.

So.. now how do I undo the 3 machines it took me to figure it out?
