Question samba-win2k

hello friends,

I am a new bee, having some doubts in samba and wins conf. Can I use a samba for loging-in linux systems in windows domain(not workgroup), not for file sharing. Same as like other windows machines in win domain.

Thanks
Mohan

I've heard of it being done. I found a guide here , that seems up to date, but I've never done it myself.

Please tell us what distribution you have and all that, it is very important!
If you've got red hat 9 or anything before that you need to upgrade a LOT of packages if you have fedora etc then you should be fine (especially with core 2) I have succeeded in only getting the following working, when telnetting to the linux box it uses kerberos to authenticate using the win2k domain server but shares and all that is still a bit of a misery to me .. so if you can get it working tell us please ive got a few pages about setting it up, but there alwasy seem to be a package missing :/ but Im using rh7.3 so if you've got fedora youll be much beter off (or mandrake 10 or any really new distros)

I'm using rh9, with no other packages(except samba). I am working in win2k domain. please tell about rh10(fedora), is it possible in fedora to register to win domain?

Ok
first of all
You need samba3 and kerberos updates! before anything will work, if you enjoy updating rpm's do it, but I have personally found some hitches at times otherwise fedora core 2 would probably be a better bet to use. Okay but use that other page that someone has pasted but first for a step by step guide :
http://www.pcquest.com/content/linux/104010509.asp
atm some guides don't give you all the information that is needed but this would probably be the best one to start with then after that use the other ones you find

good luck I am closer to getting mine to work atm but with all the rpm updates some of my dependencies have got messed up
