Does anyone know how to access a shared USB printer on a windows 2000 client from a linux server (or client, for that matter) over SAMBA? The printer is an HP deskjst 3520, a new (and cheap-o) model for which cups doesn't have drivers. So I tossed it onto a nearby winbox to make use of the proprietary drivers for purty-style formatted prining. But isn't there some way to send raw ascii (the main thing I'd be printing from linux)? Forgive me for not being very conversant in the whyfors of network prining if this query sounds ignorant on its face.
(The
Oreilly SAMBA book isn't much help. It just says, "Click the "Shared as" radio button, then click the OK button. The printer is now accessible by other systems on the network." -Yes, but
how?)
