samba unmounting problems

Hey all,

I have written a script that is run that gathers a file off all Windows machines via Samba and copies them to the Linux machine. The command I use to mount the shares is mount -t smbfs -o username=bob, password=yesbob $backpath /mnt (the backpath bit is the Windows directories) This seems to work fine, however I believe I'm having troubles when it comes to unmounting each share. They don't all seem to unmount properly and when they don't mounts start pilling up and errors occur; my unmount command is umount -r -f /mnt is this where my problem lies? My mount just seem to not listen to me and even as root I have trouble unmounting shares.

What errors do you get?

Make sure that nothing is accessing the partition when it is being unmounted.

Yeh, sorry that I havent replied quicker, the error is like access denied, device is busy (cant really remember properly) And sometimes after a while I can unmount it, other times I just have to reboot.
