Samba server failing to save/corrupting

Hi All -

I'm having a bit of trouble with my RH9 server running Samba 2.2.7a. Hopefully someone will have some ideas as to what may be wrong or even how to diagnose the problem. I'm at a loss at this point.

What I have been noticing is this: while accessing files on the Samba server from Win2k or WinXP boxes through the standard file browser/folders works fine, some of my applications sometimes fail when saving to the Samba server. Most noticeable is Photoshop which simply seems unable to write to the SMB server -- it starts to write the file but then just hangs. Some of my other applications fail to save intermittently as well. And twice, a Maya save has been badly corrupted though this could be unrelated.

I've also seen very long/unending hangs when trying to open files through these applications from the SMB server. I will be changing directories or going up in directories using the Windows "up folder" arrow. Suddenly, it just freezes and I can't do anything and have to terminate the application.

When a Windows machine is accessing the file server, the load is very low. No other warning flags are popping up. Anyone have any ideas on what to check or what might be the problem?

Thanks in advance,

eFury
