Samba Samba

Greetingzz.....

I connected one Linux to Xp usiinng samba, but when i double click on the linux machine from xp, it shows the linux one isn't in the same network as XP.

What is the general rule of subnetting between this two PC's that i've to use?

Also, the range of address from 172.16.1.1 172.16.255.255 in smb.conf file mean that all the 65025 PCs will be addressed ?

Thanx in advance.
A s i F...............

As far as I know, the "hosts allow" parameter does not accept IP ranges, you have to give it a subnet to allow. So for example, if you wanted all machines from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254, you would use:

Code:
hosts allow = 192.168.1.
