Question Samba - Read Only Issue

Hello,

I am somewhat new to Linux and I really need some assistance and would be grateful to anyone who can help solve my dilemma.

I am administering a Linux Samba Server and am getting an error whereby some(ul) files are opening up and Microsoft Word says the files should be opened in Read Only mode. If you say no after about 30 seconds the file opens in a writable and saveable mode. This is happening to many files but not all files in the same share.It is happening at most workstations but not all of them. Thus very intermittent.

My smb.conf share settings are as follows:

[Documents]
path = /home/Documents
writeable = yes
force create mode = 0770
; valid users = joe,bob,bill
comment = Documents
oplocks = no
printable = no
force user = root
read only = no
directory mode = 0770

maybe this is not your root cause, but I have this kind of problem before because of unstable network connection. A lousy switch and loose cabling cause me restart samba services always(My place have unstable electricity and cause this hardware problem).
Normally after I restart the switch, recheck the cable and restart samba services will be ok. You place electricity have any problem?
