Samba quickie!

To connect to Linux from XP using Samba, is it necessary to have XP set up with users/usernames, or can it be done using an XP box that goes straight to the desktop on boot. (without "logging on", if you will)?

I.e., an XP box that does not ask for username / password information at bootup.

You can just go straight to a desktop - so long as the machines are networked you will be prompted for a password.
