Samba Problems
I spent about 5 hours trying to sent up samba using the original config file. I could see the samba server from windows xp but i could not access it. I finally wrote my own config file and trashed the original. I can now log on to the samba server and I though everything was working until I got up this morning. I tried to backup some files from my XP Box to the samba server and it said that I didnt have write permissions. Here is my config file:
#Global Parameters
workgroup = Workgroup
netbios name = SambaServer
encrypt passwords = yes
[homes]
read only = no
browseable = no
[windows]
path = /windows
browseable = yes
valid users = @admins, root, cam, camullis, samba
write list = @admins, root, cam, camullis, samba
writeable = yes
Please advise me as to why I might not be able to write to this samba directory. Windows is the name of the directory I am going to use for the backups. It is mounted to a fat32 hard drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
