smbd -> smb

I've pretty much established that I need to start smbd manually before smb (as described in my previous post). I'd either like to

1) Fix the problem so I only have to start smb, because it seems like every tutorial / piece of advice I find only says that's all you need to do

2) Add smbd to the services

I tried 2 through the GUI in System Settings -> Server Settings -> Services, Actions -> Add Service

"/usr/sbin/smbd" and also just "smbd" but both times I got a blank warning/error popup

Oh, and I also tried adding the command lines under startup but I'm assuming that didn't work because I didn't assign root priviliges to my account.

Any ideas? Thanks

try going to Desktop->System Settings->Security Level

check off eth0 as trusted and under SELinux scroll down to Samba and check off Disable SELinux protection for smbd and nmbd daemons

then restart samba

root~]#service smb restart

I took care of the security setting with eth0 a while ago, but thanks.

I had a friend look into my settings and according to him I had a corrupted secrets file.

smb restart is now working fine (both smbd and nmbd)
