Unhappy Samba Printing from w2k client to epson on linux box

i have samba 2.2.1 running on a small network of 2 computers. a win2k machine and my linux box (mandrake 8.1). i have a printer share set up for my epson stylus color 777. can see it and access it from win2k machine. but when i try to print from win2k machine i get:

StartDocPrinter call was not issued

anyone know what is up? i have the epson driver loaded on the client win2k machine. the printer section of my smb.conf file looks like this:

[epson777]
path = /var/spool/samba
read only = No
create mask = 0700
guest ok = Yes
hosts allow = 192.168.1.1
printable = Yes
print command = lpr-cups -P %p -o raw %s -r # using client side printer
