I can take the logical guess and say netbios-ns, netbios-ssn, and probably microsoft-ds are totally neccesary for running a Windows Domain Server and doing filesharing. My question is what the heck do they use the dgm service for?
I have all these ports open on my server but for local lan access only.
Mandrake Control Center 9.1 / Security / DrakFirewall
Click the "Advanced" tab to show the "Other ports" line and I've added this to the text input box:
445/udp 137/udp 138/udp 139/udp 445/tcp 137/tcp 138/tcp 139/tcp
They may not all be necessary but none are open to the internet, just local lan.
