Samba not accessing my Windows Shared folders

Hello I have Installed several versions of Linux looking for a good version that would not have problems accessing Windows networks I have learn that many linux Districts use Samba to Access Windows Netwoks but there isnt one version of linux that runs samba that has recogniezed my Shared Files On Windows.....

Only on Kanoppix Linux and Old versions of Suse I have accessed my Windows networks without a problem....

...buttom line is that I need to access my Windows Shared files from any of this versions of linux Fedora Core, Mandrake or Suse 9.3 but they all use SAMBA witch is the program that would not recognize my Windows Shared files..... so my question is would anybody know a program for any of those versions of linux that would let me browse Windows Netwoks ? or even better does anybody know a trick or something like that to make Samba Run properly?

Thank you for ur time.

The Samba client stuff works well so it's probably firewall issues that stopped you browsing. Windows browsing uses various methods depending on what version of Windows is running but the method of attaching to resources is more consistent.

Try
Code:

smb://server/share
in Konqueror which will test basic connectivity. In my experience it's the firewall at both ends that gives the problems.

If you want to find out more about the nitty gritty of Windows browsing have a look at the Samba HOWTO (chapter 9 network browsing) on us5.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/

I wish It was that simple.... firewalls were turned off and beleif me I have done the smb:// thing many maaaaanyyyyy times and I get the message error "Could not connect to host for smb://Pc1" ( Pc1 being the server )

I will check out that link anyway thx:study:
