samba logon failure
i have samba running on red hat 8.0. samba version 2.2.7a.
i have had it running on another machine and was connecting with no problem. i set up the smb.conf file to use encrypted passwords. i added a user and gave that user a password. i then added the user to the smbpasswd file. when i try to login i get the following error: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE everything on both computers looks the same. could i be missing something? |
now when i try to run the command:
smbclient -L servername i get the following error: error connecting to 192.168.1.100:139 (connection refused) error connecting to 192.168.1.100 (connection refused) i have no idea what i did to cause these problems. please help |
please post steps
If I were you I'd search this site first. I think I've seen those errors before in this forum somewhere.
If nothing comes out, please post all the steps you did when you installed and configured Samba. Always remember we are not psychix. In order words, try to re-create the situation as accurate as you can. Maybe you overlooked some steps [ or maybe not. Many times I've blamed myself or Samba to then realize later on that the problem was on the client side ] RandomX |
