Do you mean to swat as root? If so yes, from anywhere. There's a line in smb.conf that says "onlyfrom = localhost". Comment out, or change to onlyfrom = 192.168.1. (or your IP range), and you should be in from your other machines.

That’s a good question; I’m new to this so I’m not really sure I know the difference between swat and Samba. What I’m trying to do is login to my Linux box as root from my Widows box using Samba. I can do this with my user name but get a permission denied message when trying it as root. I looked in my /etc/smb.conf file but could not find the “onlyfrom = localhost” statement.
